During the animal unit, the students learned about different kinds of birds and adaptations specific birds have.  They used tongue depressors to represent the bird's beak and picked up cheerios.  The students met Spike, Shanntelle's real live bird.  They also made a cardinal craft and experimented with bags of ice to represent a penguin's extra layer of feathers.  A big thanks to the moms who volunteered their time!!
